Anvil Sells Technical Services Division to Mistras Group, Inc
Anvil has entered into an agreement to sell its Technical Services Division, which includes Non-Destructive Examination (NDE), to the Mistras Group, Inc.
Anvil's Technical Services division provides highly technical measurements of equipment, vessels, and pipes within petroleum refineries and other industrial operations. Included in the sale are Anvil's Metallurgical Testing business and its Burlington, WA Castings Inspection business. Approximately 62 employees are involved in the division and will be invited to join the Mistras Group.
The Mistras Group is a global leader in providing technology-enabled asset protection solutions used to evaluate the structural integrity of critical energy, industrial, and public infrastructure. Headquartered in Princeton Junction, New Jersey, Mistras has approximately 2,000 employees in over 68 offices across 15 countries. The Anvil Technical Services employees in Bellingham will join other Mistras employees who work out of an office in that city.
According to Jim Wakefield, Anvil's President, "The NDE business is becoming more capital intensive as new technologies improve testing methods. This sale will give Anvil's NDE employees a chance to work with an industry leader who is aggressively investing in these new technologies. In addition to providing Anvil's NDE employees with better opportunities for personal growth, this transition will allow Anvil to focus on its core business of providing engineering services primarily in the petroleum refining industry."
Anvil appreciates the wonderful group of clients it has provided with NDE services. We fully expect the Mistras Group will continue to provide excellent service along with continued improvement in technologies and approaches for clients' critical testing needs."
